Content creator Dmitry Osintsev, known under the nickname Recrent, sharply criticized the community of the new Valve game Deadlock. He claimed that many of the people playing the title are former Dota 2 participants who, in his words, represent the worst of that scene and created a hostile atmosphere in the game's player base.
Osintsev's remarks were made public and subsequently reported by a gaming outlet. In his statement he described the community in harsh terms and conveyed strong personal irritation toward the behavior he observes on Russian servers.
Quoting his sentiment in English translation, he said that the Deadlock community feels 'idiotic,' comparing members to immature and rude people and calling them 'pure rejects from Dota who left that game.' He added that this is the vibe he gets from playing on regional servers and listening to those players, describing them as extremely low in manners and intelligence.
Separately, Deadlock showed a surge in player numbers earlier this year. In February 2026 the game recorded a peak of more than 125,000 concurrent players. That increase followed the 'Old Gods, New Blood' update, which introduced new characters and sparked renewed interest in the title.
The game's full release date remains unknown. Valve continues to develop Deadlock under limited access: the developer is expanding the project through closed testing and entry is currently possible only by invitation from participants in those tests.
