Ubisoft has announced an update for Far Cry 3 Classic Edition that will enable a 60 frames-per-second option on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. The publisher shared the news via its social media channels.
The patch is scheduled to be released on January 21. Ubisoft has not clarified whether the update will include any additional technical enhancements or gameplay changes beyond the higher frame rate.
The company had been dropping hints about this improvement for several weeks, prompting speculation that similar performance upgrades could be applied to other classic titles from its catalog in the future.
Far Cry 3 Classic Edition first arrived in June 2018 on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One as a remaster of the third mainline Far Cry game, offering only modest graphical enhancements compared with the original release.
