Streamer Vitaliy "Papich" Tsal expressed a blunt opinion on the relative merits of video games and board games, arguing that tabletop titles cannot compete with computer games and occupy a lower level of development and engagement.
Asked which board game he thinks is best, Papich replied that he generally does not play tabletop games and questioned what kind of board games were meant — complex RPG-style titles or simpler family games like Monopoly. He said he once bought an old, fairly simple board game but otherwise does not play them much.
From his point of view, Papich prefers shorter, more dynamic board games. He criticized tabletop games that require many hours to complete, arguing that if a pastime demands such a long time investment, it makes more sense to play on a computer instead. "Only dynamic games make sense," he said.
Papich went on to call himself "not a fan" of board games and described them as a more primitive mode of entertainment compared with video games. He asked rhetorically why anyone would choose board games when video games are available, labeling tabletop play as a form of primitive socializing.
He also characterized board games as primarily a social activity people use to drink and interact, rather than as a medium that can rival the depth and technical development of computer titles. In his view, board games represent an earlier stage of leisure that is inferior to modern digital games, and comparing the two is almost laughable.
Earlier, Papich began watching the anime "Death Note." His impressions of that series have been published separately for those interested in his take.
