Alexander "Nix" Levin offered his view on the League of Legends development team, describing them as unusually creative and willing to experiment even when that carries the risk of making mistakes.
He argued that this kind of bold approach is possible only when developers genuinely love the game they are patching. According to Nix, LoL developers are not afraid to try things that might temporarily break the game if the result makes it more interesting; he emphasized that no team can make every decision perfect or universally loved.
Nix noted that some player dissatisfaction is inevitable, but he praised the willingness to take risks in spite of intense pressure from Western gaming communities. He contrasted that environment with others where responses can be more forgiving, and recalled an instance when a season of poor-quality cosmetic items provoked an online petition accusing the studio of shortchanging players; the developer publicly apologized and reworked the items in response to feedback.
He expressed respect for that readiness to experiment and contrasted it with current practices among Dota developers, while also acknowledging that Dota creators used to take similar creative risks. Nix suggested that League of Legends has adopted several ideas from the older Dota tradition.
Earlier, Nix admitted he had developed a small desire to return to playing Dota 2 after a long break, although he has not announced any concrete plans.
