Bloomberg journalist Jason Schreier reports that development on Grand Theft Auto VI remains active and that the game’s content may not yet be finalized. According to his information, Rockstar’s team is still completing missions and levels and deciding which features and elements will be included in the final product.
Schreier explained that a project typically reaches a “content complete” stage only after its core mechanics are finished and before full-scale bug fixing and polishing begin. Even during the polishing phase, developers often continue to add or refine specific pieces of content, and by his account GTA VI may currently be in this intermediate state between feature completion and final stabilization.
The game’s release window has shifted multiple times: it was originally penciled in for 2025, later moved to May 2026, and subsequently set for November 16, 2026. Despite the published date, Schreier notes there is no absolute certainty that this schedule will hold, even within the studio itself.
While the most recent target looks more realistic than earlier windows, the situation remains fluid as Rockstar continues to balance finishing outstanding missions, polishing gameplay, and determining the final set of content that will ship with the title.
