Daniil 'Zeus' Teslenko criticizes Valve's decision to reintroduce Anubis and argues Train should not have been removed

Former professional Counter-Strike player Daniil 'Zeus' Teslenko publicly criticized Valve's decision to bring the map Anubis back into the competitive map pool. In a post on his Telegram channel he said he was surprised and dismayed by the move and questioned the logic behind the rotation.

Zeus expressed disbelief that Train would be taken out at this stage. He said he had only just grown accustomed to Train and did not understand why Valve would swap it for what he called an objectively poor map. At the same time he defended Train, arguing that it is a solid competitive map and that criticism often comes from players who simply do not know how to play it properly. He acknowledged that Train can feel difficult at first, but insisted teams and players adapt with time.

Valve announced the removal of Train from the CS2 competitive map pool in the early hours of January 10. Train was first used at tournaments in June 2025, but over time teams tended to pick it less frequently than other maps.

Train's slot in the competitive rotation will be filled by Anubis when the fourth season of the Premier circuit begins. Valve has not specified an exact date for the rotation, only that the third Premier season concludes on January 19. Tournament organizers have not yet confirmed which event will feature Anubis's competitive return.
