Counter-Strike 2 Analyst Dmitry "hooch" Bogdanov Reports Steam Account Compromised — May Have Left Session Open at a LAN Club

Dmitry Bogdanov, better known in the Counter-Strike community as hooch, announced that he has lost access to his Steam account. Bogdanov, a former professional player who now works as an analyst for Counter-Strike 2, told followers on his personal Telegram channel that he believes his account was compromised and that he has already contacted Steam support.

In his post, hooch described the incident in blunt terms: the account was apparently hacked, the attacker removed the linked email and phone number, and most of the account’s items were likely sold. He asked the community for advice and for anyone who had faced similar situations, expressing frustration about the loss and uncertainty over recovery chances.

Bogdanov suggested one possible explanation for the breach: he may have forgotten to log out of his account at a computer club. He also noted how quietly and quickly the valuables were transferred out of the account, questioning how the thief acted so efficiently.

For other players, there is an existing safety measure in Counter-Strike 2 that was introduced in 2025: if a player manages to regain access to a hacked account within a week, the game offers a rollback mechanism to return stolen skins. After such a rollback, however, the account is restricted from using the Marketplace or transferring items for 30 days, a temporary penalty intended to reduce fraud and abuse while restoring lost property.
