Astralis said to be close to signing Swedish sniper Lav "phzy" Smidebrant, potentially creating the club's first international CS2 roster

Esports organization Astralis is reportedly considering signing Swedish AWPer Lav "phzy" Smidebrant to its Counter‑Strike 2 lineup, according to information obtained by HLTV from unnamed sources.

Phzy had been rostered with 9INE, but on January 1 the club announced his contract had been bought out; the identity of the purchasing organization was not disclosed. If Smidebrant joins Astralis, he would occupy the sniper position left vacant after Nicolai "device" Reedtz departed the Danish team on December 28.

The potential signing would reinforce comments made earlier by Astralis CEO Jonas Gundersen that the club is prepared to assemble a roster composed of players from different countries. Should the transfer be completed, it would represent the first time Astralis fields an international Counter‑Strike lineup in the organization's history.

At present the report relies on HLTV's sources and neither Astralis nor the player have issued an official confirmation. Further announcements from the club are expected to clarify the situation.
